MICHAEL C. NING
Inspirational Leadership Book Author
Michael Ning is a quintessential entrepreneur. He started as a salaried sales professional but soon found himself starting his first entrepreneurial activity as an import-export company in late 1985 while working for Shipping giant, Sea-Land Service, with their consent. His next entrepreneurial activity was in 1993 when he started his own international investment consulting firm after switching industries to finance. Michael has had an illustrious 27-year career in finance, ending as his own international investment banking firm. His firm independently secured almost $750 Million for corporate clients over four years and billions as syndicate leader over the same period. He retired his firm in 2023 after he was victimized by his second stroke in 2021 and at age 65 is now beginning a new career as author and what he believes will be his last entrepreneurial business activity.
At this point, Michael is interested in having fun while working. But then, this has been his lifelong quest since his mid 20s and permanently since his mid 30s. Today, he is seeking to start an entrepreneurial firm which exemplifies what corporations in general should try to become, at least from his point of view. Michael developed this point of view from having run numerous businesses over decades while watching and participating in the excesses and greed of the financial industry. He has mostly succeeded but he has experienced failures as well. Today, he believes he can operate a profitable and gentler operation for investors, employees and clients. At least, that’s what he’s going to try to do.
Michael is pursuing creative multi-media art, which he has always had interest. His personal projects as an artist should grow. His current work now is as author. He expects to continue to grow as a non-fiction writer but he soon expects to expand into fiction. Another area he hopes to expand sooner than later is in video design and production, to be aired on You-Tube. Most of his early video subjects might coincide with his book topics to benefit his readers.
Michael Ning, author of “Make the Impossible Possible,” lived in Tokyo, Japan until he was 14, then immigrated to Torrance, Ca. He graduated UCLA in Political Science, then became a Fellow in Public Affairs for the CORO Foundation in St. Louis. Michael next pursued sales at Kaiser Aluminum and Sea-Land Service. He shifted to finance at Shearson Lehman Hutton, Oppenheimer & Co. and Merrill Lynch International. He last started Arque Capital, his own US broker-dealer until 2023, as he also spent three years in Japan owning several financial service and commodities companies. Michael has travelled extensively in the world from Cairo to Kuala Lumpur and Barcelona to Bogota, Colombia. Michael started as a middle-class nobody.
The first book is for all generations as Michael describes his unique living and career philosophies, how he overcame most impossible challenges and made them possible from career job searches, promotions, industry shifts, and starting and operating independent businesses while simultaneously having fun travelling the world. The light reading is complemented by his many business adventures, often in exotic locations. The book is also full of his opinions and commentaries on our current everchanging society. His preferred driving weapon of choice is a 2005 Aston Martin DB9 or a 2013 Mercedes CLS550. He has two sons, a Millennial and an early member of Gen Z.
